When it comes to social media marketing, quality content is key. As a business you want to make sure that you are providing your audience with valuable information that will help them in their everyday lives. If you can do this, consistently, you will be able to build trust and loyalty with your followers, and they will be more likely to return to your page for future updates. In this blog post, we will discuss some tips on how to write quality content for your social media audience!
Tip #01: Start with Your Audience in Mind
When creating content, it is important to always keep your audience in mind. What are their needs and wants? What type of information would they find valuable?
When you can answer these questions, you will be able to create content that is relevant and interesting to them. You can create a word document for yourself or grab a pen and paper and start answering these questions. If you don’t know the answer to these questions, you might want to think about doing some research on your audience. Create a poll on your social media, reach out to your current customers and ask for feedback, create a small survey to send out to your database and so on.
Tip #02: Be Informative and Helpful
One of the best ways to engage your social media followers is by providing them with valuable information. If you can teach them something new or help solve a problem they are experiencing, they will appreciate it!
Make sure that your content is well-written and easy to understand, so that everyone can benefit from it.
Tip #03: Keep It Short
When it comes to social media, people are usually looking for quick and easy information. This means that your content should be succinct and to the point. Try not to overload your followers with too much information at once, or they will likely lose interest.
Instead, break down your points into manageable chunks, and make sure each one is worth reading.
Tip #04: Be Consistent with Content Creation
If you want to keep your audience engaged, then you need to be consistent with your content creation. This means posting on a regular basis and not just when you feel like it or have time for it.
It is important that they know what type of posts will show up next so they’re always looking forward to something new coming their way! Setting up a simple content planner for yourself and dedicating x amount of time a month, week or day to it, is a great start.
Tip #05: Make Sure Your Content Is Interesting and Informative
Content should always provide value! For people to find out about your business through social media platforms like Facebook or Twitter, the information needs to be interesting so that users are compelled enough share it with others who might benefit from reading as well.
Do some research on what is trending within your specific industry. Google Trends is a great place to start looking for real-time trends. As marketers (and yes, as a business owner you are a marketer for your own product or service) Google Trends lets us better understand what audiences are interested in. We use this data as a tool to gain insight into customer behaviors.
Tip #06: Include Your Branding
When creating content, it is important to always include your branding. This will help to establish your business as a credible source of information and increase brand awareness. Make sure that all your visuals (e.g., logos, graphics, photos) are consistent with your
overall branding strategy, so that people will immediately recognize them when they see them online. There are plenty of programs out there that can help you along the way and are easy to start with, some of my personal favorites are Pixlr and Canva, alongside Adobe Creative Suite where I am able to create my own designs.
Tip #07: Spell Check, Double Check, Triple Check!
One of the most common mistakes people make when creating content is not proofreading it properly. I know, because I have been there, and it’s mortifying once you see it go live into the digital world for everyone to see.
One of the best things ever taught to me was to double and triple check, and not to rush to get something done. This can lead to embarrassing errors that can be easily avoided. Make sure to spell check your work, and then have someone else look at it as well. You would be surprised at what you can miss with your own eyes, so sometimes a fresh set of eyes can catch mistakes that you may have missed.
In conclusion, writing quality content for your social media audience is essential to success. By following the tips we have outlined above, you can create posts that are informative and engaging, and will keep your followers coming back for more!
